Adoption of a hybrid electromagnetic operation mechanism

Realizing high reliability and long-term stable operation

  • The number of parts has been reduced by adopting Hitachi’s original hybrid electromagnetic operation mechanism, and solid lubrication has been adopted for all sliding parts to achieve greaseless operation, resulting in improved reliability and safety.
  • Maintainability has been improved by reduction of the number of parts and greaseless design, achieving long-term stable operation.

Adoption of a three-position vacuum switch with double break points

Ensuring the performance of both circuit breaker and disconnector with a single vacuum switch

  • Hitachi’s original three-position vacuum switch with two break points has the functionality of both circuit breaker and disconnector, allowing it to be used in a variety of applications.
  • The double insulation structure of vacuum and epoxy molding avoids earth fault accidents in the unlikely event of vacuum leakage.
  • Vacuum brazing technology, which has a long track record with vacuum circuit breakers, has been applied to the sealing of vacuum switches to ensure the reliability of the sealing.

Downsizing

  • Vacuum insulation, which has more than three times the insulation performance of SF6 gas at 1 atmospheric pressure, has been applied to achieve a smaller size of switchgear.

Safety

  • The phase-isolated structure prevents short-circuit accidents between phases.
  • In the unlikely event of an arc accident in the vacuum vessel, no dangerous increase in gas pressure occurs, which eliminates the need for a pressure relief device.
  • The double insulation structure of vacuum and epoxy molding avoids earth fault accidents in the unlikely event of vacuum leakage (already noted under “Adoption of a three-position vacuum switch with double break points”).
  • Vacuum earthing switchgear ensures short-circuit making performance against incorrect operation.
  • Capable of monitoring for vacuum leaks.

Maintenance saving

  • With our SF6‑free design, there is no risk of releasing greenhouse gases into the atmosphere, and no maintenance is required for gaskets, desiccants, or other related components.

Environmental Resistance

  • Molded vacuum switches are less susceptible to condensation, salt damage, and corrosive gases, ensuring long-term reliability.
  • The vacuum vessel and the rotating shaft of the operating mechanism are made of stainless steel for improved environmental resistance.
