Hitachi Class II Biological safety cabinet for infection control measures including PCR tests

Outline
Biological safety cabinet for infection control equipment (safety cabinets) are products designed to ensure worker safety and minimize contamination. In the event of a sudden outbreak of a new virus or unknown bacterium, these products are essential for the handling of samples for PCR tests and other procedures. The cabinet has two options for the working opening height: 250 mm or 200 mm. The area that aerosols are blown backward into has been expanded, improving contamination suppression.
Features
Working opening height
Can be used at either of two options: 250 mm or 200 mm
- Guaranteed wind speed performance when the opening is adjusted to 250 mm or 200 mm and the front shutter is automatically controlled
- If the opening height deviates from 250 mm or 200 mm during use, a buzzer and display indicating "oPEn" will warn the user. This prevents the user from using the equipment in an incorrect way, such as fully opening the shutter or narrowing the opening
(When the front shutter is fully closed, the display will indicate "CLoS," but the buzzer will not sound.).
Touch switch panel
- Pictograms are used to enable users to understand operations visually.
Touch switch panel with digital display
Realizes controlled airflow separation in accordance with WHO guidelines
Increased the area where aerosols flow backwards by approximately 20%
An example of sample placement (2D diagram of a work table)
(Pure air is provided to the entire working chamber, including the
rear airflow area.)
Adopts LED lighting
JIS C 8159-1 linear LED lamps are used.
- JIS C 8159-1 linear LED lamps are used in the product. Users can change these LED lamps themselves. (rated life of LED lamps: 40,000 hours, JIS product).
Accumulated LED lamp lighting time is displayed.
- The product displays the accumulated time the lamps have been on in units of 10 hours when they start to light up.
Airflow balance based on JIS/NSF testing methods
We carry out airflow balance tests using Bacillus subtilis and our test equipment.
Convenience features and various alarms of Biological safety cabinet
| Feature name | Description |
|---|---|
| Digital wind speed display | Digitally displays the average inflow speed and the average outflow speed |
| Differential pressure gauge for HEPA exhaust filters | Daily management based on the differential pressure of HEPA exhaust filters and management of HEPA filter clogging |
| Accumulated LED lamp lighting time | Displays accumulated lighting time in units of 10 hours |
| Germicidal lamp activation function | Prevents germicidal lamps from turning on when LED lamps are on and turns off germicidal lamps when the front shutter is open |
| Germicidal lamp automatically turns off | Lighting times of 15, 30, 60, 90, 120 or 240 minutes or continuous lighting can be selected with a countdown display |
| Accumulated germicidal lamp lighting time | Displays accumulated lighting time in units of 10 hours |
| Safety mechanism for electronic ignition gas burners | It can be used by pressing the GAS switch on the main body while fans are operating. The supply of gas stops when the fans stop (including power outages). |
| Two types of accumulated operation time counters for fans | The accumulated operation time of fans is displayed (in units of 10 hours) using two counters: a resettable counter (can be started at will) and an accumulated time counter (resetting is not permitted). |
| Accelerated operation when HEPA filters are clogged | The product's fanning capacity increases if it determines there is clogging during preliminary operation. A "POWER UP" indicator lamp turns on when this occurs. Front shutter fully closed airflow reduction mode with clogging misdetection prevention feature (patent no. 5451963)* |
| Fans operated using external controls | Fans turned on and off using non-voltage contact (this function is disabled when fans are activated using the switch for the main unit) |
- Statements concerning patents and patent applications are made regarding the status as of November 2019.
